Nanu has adjusted beautifully!
Nanu enjoys checking out new rooms!  Here she
is in our family room in her brand new PAJAMAS!

These wonderfully soft CUSTOM made pajamas
were a gift to her from a wonderful rescuer!    If
you would like custom PJ's made for your dog,

Nanu slept in ther PJ's all night & they fit perfectly
& kept her nice and warm.   Since they are
custom, they only have 3 legs openings, so they
stay on really well & she doesn't get a draft from
an empty leg hole!

her ankle is still "loose" but I
think it is a bit stronger!

Nanu is becoming quite the clothes horse!  Here she is modeling 3 outfits that were made for her by Barb.   I think she
likes the hand knit one the best!  It is nice and stretchy and soft!!!

You can see in the pictures that her ankle is still quite hyper-extended.   She gets around on it very well, but with that
much bend, she is very low in front & that does slow her down.  Lately she has been jumping up onto the couch...
which isn't a big problem EXCEPT I do not want her to jump OFF of the couch!   I think that could really hurt her.  So I
never let her down around the couch (or anything else she can jump up on unless I am right there to watch her!

Happy St. Patricks Day!
Nanu went to the vet's today & got her stitches removed!  They
also clipped her nails short to try & help her ankle.  The vet didn't
think she would regain enough strength in her ankle to use it
properly, but he also said that the surgery (to fuse her ankle) was
not time sensitive and it wouldn't hurt to wait & see if she could
recover without surgery!

We will get her the surgery if it is needed, but we are also glad to
give her some time to try and build up strength & maybe not need
it!   In the meantime, it doesn't seem to hurt her & she gets
around quite well.

She had her first "proper" bath today!   Finally no
casts/splints/stitches to prevent a good washing!  She was less
than thrilled over it, but she really needs some regular baths as
she is starting to get some 1 year acne!

I have scheduled her spay surgery for Friday the 19th, so please
everyone say a little prayer for her for an uneventful spay!

Nanu did just fine!   She is now spayed & has received her DA2PP booster :)   She was a little quiet last night, but
today she is bouncing around & doesn't think she should relax & recover.   I will give her a couple of weeks & then we
will re-evaluate her ankle & see if there is any improvement.  IF she is still not able to straighten up on her ankle, then
we will have to consider another surgery to fuse the joint.

Hey, check it out!  I have 3 videos now playing on Utube!
I'm not doing anything crazy, just walking around in the first
two & playing with one of the rescue puppies in the other,
but mom wanted to show my fans how well I am adapting to
three legs and also how well I am doing on my weak ankle.

I still sometimes flop down onto my wrist joint, but I'm
learning to balance my weight back so that I don't put a lot
of pressure on the weak joint.

I also do a lot of sitting up.  This rests my leg & it is really
an easy trick for me.   I am pretty darn good at walking on
just my hind leg too... but no way am I ready for THAT to
be filmed!

I'll practice it more & maybe let mom catch it on film at a
later date.

We are still waiting to see if Nanu's ankle will strengthen enough so that she will not
need fusion surgery.

She is working hard to adapt & we are willing to give her the time she needs to
perhaps overcome this last hurdle without surgery.

The nice thing about the surgery is that there is no rush to do it.  Her prognosis will
be the same if we do it right now, or if we do it in 6 months or 6 years.

Thanks for continuing to check in.   We will update when there is any change.  Feel
